I was wondering if anyone else has installed a new wheel bearing and heard the same roaring noise when making a turn. I just replaced a (6 months old) wheel bearing assembly last week and still heard the same sound when turning right. I thought it might have been the tire so I got them rotated and the noise was still there. It's not a hard job to do and being I have a 2 year warranty with this bearing I am not in a hurry to changed it a 3rd time.

Just wondering if anyone has ran into this issue before.

I don't mean to offend you, but is it possible that you didn't change the correct one? Or maybe the one you didn't change is also bad? I know when mine we're going out it was very difficult to tell what side it was from the noises.

Wheel bearings are very common and hard to isolate which one is bad so good possibility another bearing is the cause of the noise.

Yes I have worked on cars for years. I've had another person drive while I am in the passenger seat. The noise is coming from the LF when making a hard right turn. When I changed it 6 months ago, the noise was gone and is recently came back. So I warranted the bearing and put in a new one. Same noise. I have have the wheels off numerous times trying to see if it was tires, etc.

No offense taken by the way. I am always acceptable to others opinions!!

I agree, you may have changed the wrong one. I have changed 3 positions on my 02 limited. 4 total as I had to replace the right rear twice after it went bad after a year.

Could it be the cv axle? If it only does it when you turn that would be my guess.

Can't be the CV axle because it's a 2wd.

I bet you changed the wrong one! When I turned to the left, the noise got louder, so I assumed it was the front right. NOPE!!! Ended up putting the old right one on the left side and it's been quite ever since:D

Right before I bough new tires last spring, the noise returned. I almost bought a new WB, but when they put the new tires on, the noise again disappeared:D You mentioned you swapped your tires around and the issue was still there, so this won't work for you.

Well yes I was the dumbass!! It wound up being the right side. I changed the left about 9 months ago. When I've had to change them in other vehicles in the past it's usually a rule of thumb when you turn right and the noise is on the left then the left side is bad cause the weight is on that side.

Either way I am happy cause the Ex is quiet once again!!

Thanks for the heads up guys!!
