I bought a leveling kit that included torsion keys and lift shackles. The keys are working fine but the shackles are giving me issues. I contacted the seller and they informed me that I have them installed correctly, but the shackles rest on the frame.

Another customer told me that’s how the shackles get their lift. But I don’t see the warrior shackles doing the same thing. I researched and they look like the shackles offered for s10 trucks. I’m switching to this style ASAP since the current shackles make a squeaking noise and I can feel them rubbing against the frame.

You obviously have to flip them round no matter what they say.

Shackle in top picture is upside down?

Seems that way. I’m going to have the shop flip them tomorrow hopefully. I sprayed the area where it touches the frame with wd40 silicone spray and the creaking sound went away. So it’s definitely coming from there.

Now I have another issue and I’m wondering if it’s related. One of my shocks has leaked a lot of oil. Sucks since they’re only a few months old. Rancho RS9000XL’s. The fun continues :D

Maybe it’s just the angle of the pic, but that shock looks too long for the application. Can you post another pic showing the full shock from end to end?

I’ll definitely take a photo tomorrow. I’m wondering if the shocks are over extended since I lifted the rear of the truck. I’ll have to replace them with the 1”-2.5” lift version.

Ah, if they were on there before the lift, they are probably not too long! Possibly too short, but they should be able to handle the small amount of lift from the shackles without a problem, especially with the sway bar limiting travel.
Rancho should have a warranty, I’d contact them.

Flip the shackles, they are upside down

^This - Isn't it obvious to you that the shackles were installed upside down?

Isn’t it obvious that I didn’t realize that at first, since I posted the original thread? But yes, I know that and hopefully others won’t make that mistake if they install the same kit. You live you learn.

The shackles may work installed the other way around but to me it looks like they are the wrong shackle for this application. The height adjusting portion of the shackle should be at the spring hanging side of things...not at the frame side of things. I would ask why the ones in the picture are different from the ones in the box.
I would also try and get the warrior style shackles that have been working on these Explorers for many years now. The shackles you installed are NOT for a explorer.......

I agree that those shackles are probably not for that vehicle, but they may work if turned around. It doesn't make sense for the second set of holes would be at the top.

Shackles are shackles. If you turn them around and they clear the frame, and they give you the ride height you wanted, then why not run them?

The shackles are not upside down. If you put them upside down you cannot use the 1st set of holes. I use the 1st set of holes and I run the same shackles. The bracket could go towards the front of the vehicle, I haven’t cared enough to try because it flexes fine

Yours don’t make a squeaking sound? Mine sound like bad control arms when I go over bumps because they rub the frame. Spraying it with silicone causes it to go away. But I’m definitely flipping them or replacing them since I don’t want to do that everyday.

If you have access to column type drilling machine, making your own shackles isn't too hard.

I wish I had that type of equipment. But it’ll be easier and less expensive for me to order a set for $45 or make these work somehow. Good input on this thread. Hopefully it helps someone else if they buy the same kit.
