:us: Hey, anybody ever lift there X without putting huge tires under it. I am thinking of lifting mine but I can't afford tires/gears right now. I think it would be kinda cool, it would give it that LandRover/Safari look. Anybody have a photo? :exp: Also, there is a guy on EBay selling Skyjacker 2in lifts (coils and add-a-leafs) for $210. Is that a good deal and what else will I need (hardware, alignment)?

You can buy it new from summit racing for less. You may/may not need camber bushings for the alignment.

you can get those parts from summit for under 200.. if not, go to suspensionconnection to buy the add-a-leafs seperately for cheaper

hey it would not look the bad at all, you may not even need to re-gear your x depending what gears you already have. i have done the f-150 coils seats and it doesn't really look that bad, i will be putting on the shackles within the next couple of weeks.

Here is a couple of pics of my truck lifted on 31's that I took today messing around froading near my house;) ......

hey goblin, when you get your new set of tires, i could use a couple of spares. wink! wink! your x is looking awesome, where did you take your pics at?

Go with shackels they make it ride smother then before you lifted it.
then do this for the front

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/WasherCoilSpacers.htm

The shackels are $20 @ autozone and the washers are probabily less then 5$ for all of them

Are these the shackles you are talking about? They are listed at $15.99.

How hard is it to put in the washers as spacers? Do they need to be grade 8 or does that apply to bolts and nuts only?

those would be the shackles, i do not know if you would need to use grade 8 hardware for the spacer, but i would def. not use the home-depot special stuff. I would do like 5-8.

No prob on the spares.... I think I am gonna get another set of 31's for my truck cause I don't want to buy the gears right now and I kinda like the way it looks like this hehe.:D

I took the pics down in Serento Valley under the I805 bridge right here in Mira Mesa. There is some kewl shiznit to drive on. I was looking at my truck thismorning and I found some algee hanging from my radius arm lol...:D

I am thinking of going out to Proctor valley sometime soon. I just want to find someone that is willing to go with me just incase something happens you know;) LOL. You never know when you might have an issue with getting stuck or tipping over on something. I know now that my truck can drive over some pretty big ruts now though. It was pretty fun driving through the creek. I found a couple of deep spots out there. We should meet up and get get our trucks dirty;)

fur sure, look through my thread tonight, i am going to do an update, i pretty much busted my knuckles open tonight trying to do stuff on my truck, .

p.s. you can have your thread back, sorry for stealing it.

Hey Goblin, is that only lifted by putting on the 31" tires? Cool lookin' truck :)

No I have a 7 or so suspension lift in the front and I have a 4.5 lift in the rear.

I have pics of it with no lift and the 31's on it though.

BADAZZZ Look'n truck. How did you do the 7in lift? All suspension or does it also have a body lift. I don't really like the idea of a body lift but I don't think I can afford to go crazy with the suspension.

Search f150 spacers, and shackels will get you 2" That is as high with stock tires before is starts looking ghey.

hey if i do a 2in. torsion twist then add coil spacers and shackles to a stock suspension how big of tires do you guys think i can fit under em?

you either have coils OR torsion bars...91-94=coils...95-? have torsion bars....stock = 31x10.5x15 tires

wait wait wait.. coils are the springs right behind the tires right? i have a 98 mounty.

It was all suspension. I don't think I would like a body lift. I would be afraid that the bolts would brake or something lol. I measured it tonight. I got 7.5" in front and 4.5" in back and I think after I get longer shocks for the rear and a longer brake line in the rear I will rais it another 2 inches. I want a little more hight in the front just for approach angle. I was lucky I got my suspension, wheels and tires, and brush guard for $350 off a  truck :D Can't beat that. I only paid $200 for the suspension and it took me a total of 11 hours to put in the rear and front.

I jumped my truck tonight on a hill and it landed real smooth just like a dessert runner. The only thing is that the rear shocks werent long enough to let the rear drop all the way down and I blew out my rear shocks. So now I HAVE to buy some new ones. Probably next payday. I think I will bo with Bilstines because I like them and they have a good Rep. Now I just have to figure out how much travel I will need to make it so I have just a lil more than the rear will drop. Then I can get some new ones for the front too. Probably some longer ones or up front too. Well I gotta get to bed and Hope everyone had a GOOD FRIDAY.:D

coils are wound rod wrapped into a coil...? if that makes sense...they go from the axle straight up...torsion bars go parallel with the frame straight back off the axle ...you have torsion bars.
