I've got poly bushings and end links (front) on the sway bars. Only way to go. I think you're right about the steering column (same thing I was told), and I'll look into the torsion bar adjusters.
I don't think I lost any bottom end with the headers and exhaust, but I sure picked up mid-range. I tow a 2,500 pound boat with mine, and even with the 3.08 gears, it's no problem. I also get 20-21 mpg on the freeway at 75 mph, and 17-18 at 60-65 mph with the boat behind me.
Presume you used your stock/OE front sway bar? That is what am planning to do. Which bushings did you use?I have poly bushings on my 93 with larger bars, but I am planning on using the stock/OE bars on my 96 Limited.
Say, did you all know our Limited's interior lights turn off automaticly if accidently left on? Believe the headlights do the same but not sure. Good idea for an older hot rodder like me who can get forgetful!! Pete, you might do a search on the torsion bar adjusters. Some really good write ups and pictures! They are only about $23.00 apiece plus labor. And they are well worth the labor price. Both of mine were worn out at 93K miles and looked just like the picture in the post. Mike
Have you read my signature? I've got the Explorer Express bars, with Energy Suspension bushings. Makes a HUGE difference, and they're not expensive. Do it!
Thanks for the heads up on the torsion bar adjusters. I'll do the search.
Pete and other Limited folks: Just had the Air-Lift rear air bags installed along with their on board compressor. Had the guage put inside the cubby next to the CD changer, out of site. Pretty nifty to be able to pull my trailer and fine tune the ride by pushing a button! Air-Lift requires a minimum of 10lbs in the bags at all times, which gives me a 3/4" lift in the rear. After having the new torsion bar adjusters installed, it was a simple matter to crank up the front to match the rear. Now my Limited is not lower as it was before. It is at or slightly higher than other Explorers. Really impressed with the quality of Air-Lift equipment! Mike
