Hey, I'm new to this site and the new owner of a '97 Explorer. I have been reading a lot of threads on this site and it has been unbelievably helpful. I am planning on doing the torsion twist and the warrior shackles. I just ordered my shackles from JC Whitney today, $39.95 plus $8.00 shipping, not too bad...

Anyway my question is, where are the bolts for the torsion bars located? This may be a very stupid question to some, but I honestly don't know. I haven't actually been underneath and looked, so maybe it is totally obvious, but I just figured this is the place to ask...

Thanks for any help guys

follow the torsion bars back towards the rear of the truck u should see them

ps i am under the things all day u'll find them

I wrote to the author of that article about the locatio of the bolts. He said:
"The bolts that you tighten are the
ones located at the rear of the torsion bars (rear=towards back of the
Explorer) You should find two bolts (one per bar) that point straight up.
Use a socket wrench to tighten (or loosen) as needed to change the height.
It's really important that you do measurements before you start, as well as
during the changes. (And of course the truck has to be back down on the
ground to measure!)"
P.S. Thanks Andrew B.
