I have a 2001 ford explorer, i locked my keys in the thing. I read somewhere that you can try every combination on the keyless entry pad and one will eventually work?

Heres what iam refering to http://hackosis.chiefcrash.com/2008/01/12/security-brute-force-a-car-keyless-entry-pad/

There was a better one than this but cant find it right now. Im totally willing to spend half hour doing this if it will work..But than i read if u miss 30 entries explorer alrm will go off ( NOT good) or it will stop allowing entry for 1 minute?

Anyone know what the truth is?

Even if it takes you only 2 seconds to punch in each code, which would be very fast, it would still take 1.75 hours to enter them all. Of course the code will on average be halfway to 99999, so hopefully your first digit is a lower one.

On my 96, the first wrong code will set off the alarm, but you can still punch in codes while it's going off...

Put a wooden wedge in the back door between the window frame and body, moving it out just enough to snake in a stiff wire (coat hanger) and pop up the door lock button.

Do you have AAA? They have a lockout service. I've used it a couple of times.

Once they get there, it takes about 30 seconds to get the door open, and no damage.

AAA uses an inflatable bag. Slick as snot.

most towing companies will come and unlock it for you. i don't know what they will charge you (my dog locked me out once and they came and didn't charge me anything) but even if putting in every possible code would work w/out setting the alarm off, it would take you forever.

once you get in, find out what the key pad lock code is and use it to create your own personal code that you'll be sure to remember. as far as i'm concerned, that's all the stupid key pad is good for.

in case you're unaware, your original factory key pad code is located on a large sticker on the RAP module, which is the cream colored box in the front of jack compartment.

Morning Koda. Why do you not like the key pad? I for one am glad I have the key pad. My driver side key lock does not work, so being poor and lazy, I just use the key pad. Key works just fine in passenger side. Maybe next time I have the door panel off, I will pull the tumbler and try to free it up.

Hey Deweyville. i don't hate it. it occasionally saves me a trip into the house to get my keys and it's great if you lock your keys in the truck on a regular basis (like my eldest daughter) but i sure wouldn't have paid extra for it.

Keypad?
ha.. like my XL came with that.

I heard people actually have better luck unlocking the car by slipping a wedge in the trunk window. Haven't tried, but it sounds promising.

i don't see how this could be done with the rear glass closed, unless you're talking about wedging the glass to get access to the rear unlock button.

I got in through the back window!!! It bends alot but becareful..I had an extra window so wasnt wporried about breaking it..but i didnt come even close to breaking it. ..Dont use a hanger there is not enuff strength. I used a alumunuim frame from a window i found in a construction site..bent it in two places and it worked well!!

great! now get your factory code and use it to set your own personal key pad code for future reference.

Don't know how well this works, but I found my code fairly early in the list.

The keypad is awesome. If im going for a run or the beach or somewhere where i do not want my keys on me I can always hide them in the center console and lock the door, still being able to get in the car..

Exactly. ;)

If still locked out , PM me.

if you can't remember the number the glove box is not the place t keep it. put it on a Dymo label and stick it on the lift gate handle, or change the code to your birth date.

I changed mine to my zip code....but I rarely lock it anyway

You live by me too :) i know were to go for some midnight shopping of parts :) lol jk jk

Word of note: make it worth your while, we don't have a police dept. here in town, so we usually wait until morning before we call the constable, state trooper, or funeral director, whichever the case may be  ;) lol
