My 2012 Explorer with the 2.0L gives a low engine oil pressure warning when it's really hot outside (like 100 degrees) and the vehicle has been running for a couple hours. The other day I was driving it on the interstate and I lost power suddenly and the warning light pop up. We went and ate at a local restaurant and after that, I was able to make the 20 mile drive home without issue. This past Friday similar thing happen. I can restart the engine after it happens but it will not stay running long. Oil level is good and oil is freshly changed. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor with no luck. The engine has 173,000 miles on it. Any ideals of what may be wrong?

Welcome to the Forum.
It could be the oil pressure sensor as mentioned in other threads but the loss of power is different. Did you check to see if there are any trouble codes stored?

I did this afternoon and the code was P0087 which has to do with fuel pressure.
