My 97 explorer makes a loud "clunk" in 4lo, seems to be coming from the front of vehicle. I think the transfer case is still engaged because it stays in low gear. could it be the hubs or the front differential? Also, when I'm in auto and intentionally spin the rear wheels to check out the controltrac I hear the same noise.
