I have a 4r55e trans, 4,0 96 Eddie Bauer explorer. Reverse works as long as I do not hit the gas.my Marco maximum 2.0 shows 25 psi in reverse. If I hit the throttle reverse jumps out. If I use my maximum to increase epc pressure to 60psi then reverse is perfect. Manual 1st has power, all gears work, I do have the 2 to 3 v before shift. Fluid is great, filter is newer. 168k miles. I have a 5r55e in the garage, its bad but has a new valve body. I heard about the epc mines a green band and 5r is a red? If anyone knows please link where Ivan get the parts please!

Update: it has the same pressure in reverse, neutral and park. Aprox 26psi from the epc, not line pressure.

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm interested in this subject. I have a 2001 ST that has a similar issue on a 5R55E. Mine will back up in reverse w/out an issue unless I'm on a fairly steep grade. If I try to give it too much gas it makes a horrible noise (I assume the band is slipping) and the truck doesn't want to move. I've been told it might be my EPC solenoid may be not applying adequate pressure to the reverse band.

Mine is not detecting it is in reverse. Pressure from the epc is 26ish same as park and neutral. Drive gears are recognized and at normal psi from the epc solenoid. I am going to replace the range selector (neutral safety switch) to see if it changes anything.

Using my maximum, it shows neutral when I am in fact in reverse. Pressure is the same in park, reverse, and neutral. I am replacing the nss tomorrow.
