low oil press

i have low oil presor when i first start it up in the morning and it ticks bad the when it warms up its fine and then the rest of the day it fine i have changed the oil two time this week thinking i had a bad oil filter any idears is a 4.0 v6

If the rangers are the same set up as Nav's and Exp's then the oil gauge is not really a gauge. It's just an off/on switch.When it's on the gauge goes to the middle. When the sender is going bad the needle will lag or show less oil pressure. I had the same question, same problem with pressure drop. New sender fixed the *low oil pressure*.

If you want a good reading you'll have to round up a mechanical gauge.


eta The ticking could be injector noise. Run a good fuel system cleaner though it see if there's a change
