I need to replace my lower ball joint and am do to leave for a trip in a day. The Ford Lower Ball joint I bought did not come with either a nut or Cotter pin. Anyone know where I can find these parts? I can use the same bolt but the cotter pin from what I understand has to be new.

Also how does the retaining ring go on top of the ball joint? What tool do I need?

Thanks

It should have came with a new cotter pin & castle nut. Where did you get the balljoint from? You could probably re-use the castle nut & cotter pin or go to the local parts store or hardware store and see if they have a cotter pin & castle nut that'll fit the balljoint. The retaining ring goes around the upper part of the lower balljoint on a scribed surface. Some balljoints don't come with the retaining ring or a scribed area for one. You can probably use a hammer to press the balljoint into the knuckle or rent a press.
