Full disclosure - not really a techie but have slowly been disassembling my 1996 Exploder due to coolant leak issues attributed to the lower intake manifold. I got the manifold off today and it's pretty clear that the outer ports - nearest the windshield are where my problems lie. These two rear ports (which I believe are the coolant ports) are completely clogged with material which turns to sand when you scrape it. Clearly this isn't ideal so I've use a small tool to scrape the sandy material out of the port (being careful not to scratch the flat mating surfaces of course). My question is - does this hole lead somewhere? At the moment it doesn't - it's completely clogged. If it does lead somewhere, I'll get more aggressive to try to unclog the hole. I did notice that the two front ports do have openings for the coolant to flow. Can't attach a picture sorry.
