PLEASE PLEASE be aware that if you convert your explorer to LPG and don't inform you insurance company, they would be in there rights not to pay your claim.

If you do convert, please get it inspected by a certified installer and get it reg on www.drivelpg.co.uk as this will the satisfy the insurance company,

Please go to site for further info, as all insurance co. are starting to look closely at all claims. Gary ( I worked on these claims, the paper certificate is no longer valid as a proof of installation)

Thanks for this info Peddler. Although I don't make use of it - because it makes a funny noise and runs oddly on LPG - my North Face has an LPG conversion. It's an AFC system and my insurer's underwriter accepted it without certification paperwork (as I was never supplied any with the car) but that's not so say that all will be well on making a claim! I therefore intend following your advice and getting the system inspected (and fixed hopefully) and on the register. Cheers. GRoB.

Hi

Suggest you try AVIVA they do not care if it is registered or not.

I have changed insurer and they asked if the Ex was on the LPG Register. It was not. However, I remembered that the previous owner had a private plate and when this was entered, it is listed on the register. Insurance company happy.
This might be worth chcecking if anyone's vehicle does not appear on the LPG Register.

what sort of cost would i be looking at to get mine on lpg
it's the 4l sohc engine.

Hi Stig38 - you unfortunately pay for what you get? the system I got fitted is the AG system on one of my cars which cost £1300 to get fitted by a registered fitter, the other explorer which I bought with the system is the Zoila system which would have cost £1700 t0 fit. They may be cheaper ones but it is the reliability you look for. Go to. www.drivelpg for registered installers in your area. Many thanks Gary

If you are going to convert to LPG make sure you get a multi point system. Installation is more but in the long run thru reliability and economy it's the sensible way to go.

thanks guys will do a bit more research into it first.
