Thought I'd register my rig. Bought her in 2008 65k miles on the clock for $18 grand, always been happy with her until I caught the modding bug (you *******s, yeah you know who you's are). So now I'm extremely happy and love my x and decided to post some pics in here.

This is when I first got her.

You been able to stay on the wagon in anticipation of D-Day?

I hopped on for two weeks just to detox my liver for the blood test. Had that fri, 4th feb and then dived off the back, straight into a carton of cold beer.:D

I'm just playing it by ear, expecting the worst case scenario. If by some miracle I get it back, time to celebrate if not then I won't be too dissappointed.

Thanks Gman and GRNMACHINE! Just real lucky to be born here (cheers Mum and Dad).:D:thumbsup:

And for any Japanese whaler's reading I hope one day you accidently fire a harpoon into Godzilla. Then you can see what it's like to be eaten for scientific purposes.

Good luck with getting it back mate!!! :)

Thankyou Sir! She'll be right, two conflicting answers to my question's from the same govt. department, evil doctors and the likelyhood of not being able to drive my explorer for a while... All in a day's work mate.:D:thumbsup:

They're some great articles mate, even the crown vic is gone I heard. It would be good to see the falcon flying in The States again.

Did you see top gear uk vs austrailia...hilarious mate

do you watch top gear?

Yeah mate, Top gear is me favorite car show hands down. I haven't seen that ep yet but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.

That's a bloody ripper Sam!!! Thank's for posting that link mate, funny as buggery:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've been looking at 4.6 lt crate motors and am going to drop one of these babies into Uma once she's paid off. It look's like a straight swap but would appreciate any comment's and advice on the project.

Here's a couple of pic's and description of what I'd like to do/get.

These are BRAND NEW OEM Ford 4.6 L SOHC crate motors. These Ford factory assembled motors have absolutely no rebuilt parts and feature the new PI (performance improvement) cylinder heads. They are a direct replacement for your 99-04 Mustang GT*. They can also be used to in the 96 to 98 model Mustangs** with the use of the original vehicle engine wire harness and coil packs. You can really "wake up" the 96-98 model low horsepower engines with this 35 horsepower upgrade!

These motors are brand new and complete! From the engine wiring harness to the oil pan, these motors are ready for installation. Just use the original 6-bolt flywheel/flexplate on 96-98 and 2001-2004 engines. If you own a 1999-2000 Windsor engine vehicle (with an 8-bolt crankshaft) or if you want to replace/upgrade your worn out components, we also sell NEW Ford 11" clutch/pressure plate/flywheel assemblies or SF approved automatic flexplates at extremely competative prices. Please see Manual Flywheel or Automatic Flexplate below. You 1996-1998 owners will definitely want to take advantage of this pricing and upgrade from your old 10.5" clutch setup to the 11" clutch with more holding power!

Save money on teardown/build and installation charges due to this simple swap. These crate engines even come with ALL brand new accessories (except AC compressor)! You get a new alternator, power steering pump, ignition coils, fuel injectors, water pump, idler puley, and all sensors. Why would you want to rebuild your old engine and use the old "worn out" components or have the expense of purchasing all these components seperately? Purchase the complete brand new package for the cost most companies charge for an overhauled longblock!

These new engines are perfect choice for any Street Rod, Muscle Car, or project needing a new complete fuel injected powerplant! These engines were rated at 260 HP at 5250 rpm and 302 Ft/Lbs @ 4000 rpm through factory exhaust in the Mustang GT. Just add a few more parts and your classic car could have the power, dependability, and gas mileage of a new car at an economical price! We have information on companies that manufacture aftermarket wire harnesses to make the engine/computer work in older vehicles, just ask.

mustang 4.6L might be different than an explorer 4.6L

It may look right but the internals and how things were set up might be different. Id look to see if anyone else has done a swap.

260hp?

Go for the 302hp DOHC V8 from the Lincoln Aviator... ;)

If they can do it to an SVT Cobra... Uma needs a new heart! :D

Thanks guys! Damn that blown dohc look's bloody nice, I'm really hoping it'll be unplug, unbolt, transplant, rebolt, replug and play. If it'll go in on the V6 mounts then I can start researching the different hp options, this is a straight forward swap ay?

Have to do some research, but if it fits into an Aviator, I can't see why it wouldn't bolt into an Ex. Get some Avi mounts, and have at 'er...

Thank you very much Sir. Everything is going to have to come from up your way so I need to, as you said, research, research, research and make sure I've got all me bases covered. Luckily there's a few months to nut out the details. Thank's again mate. Very scary propasition :D:thumbsup:

I'll start boxing up parts for you... :D

Hahaha, gracias compadre.

Just a little story and some beach pic's no action shot's tho', sorry.

I took a drive down to Muttonbird beach today to give the dog a chance for an ocean dip (he's been scratching like a pup possessed lately). Into the top carpark then down the track to the beach. Going down the track I felt the front and back unloading and started to think "s***, I hope I'm right getting out" but I was too far down to reverse back up, so bugger it keep going.

While I'm down there a hilux dual cab comes creeping down followed by a bloody 4wd 8 ton truck. That spun me out, I was abit worried about getting out myself but I thought hell if this bloke and his family are down here I might be able to score a tow if I'm stuck.

The dog's had his swim and the toyota hilux decides to make a move. Up he goes about 1/3 and...wheel spin, reverse back down for another shot but no dice. Anyway six bites of the cherry later (I took no photo's due to his embarrasment factor) he offer's me a go which I decline due to me thinking "if a hilux can't do it I'm well and truly f*****" He adjusted his line on the next shot and just made it up. Oh s*** my turn, after a quick yarn with the truck driver (weather, good day for it, blah blah) I chose low range, decided on my line and gave it herb's. Hit the savage stuff in 3rd low bounced around a fair bit, then got around the corner and after bouncing around abit more I was up on top of the hill, first try. I felt bloody great and proud of me explorer for making it first time when the toyo needed 7 or 8 bites. Haahaha go the 3rd gen!!!!

These are the beach pic's that made the risk worth it.
