Ok so here's what happened today, I was driving down the highway at about 65 when it made a funny slight clunking sound then I lost all drive. Shifter is still free to move.

However once I got it pulled over, I was doing some trouble shooting and it would start and idle just fine. However once I declutchd it would act like its in gear but won't pull. In other words it dies. It will roll fine in neutral but when I t to re engage. The clutch feels like thedrres no pressure and is super easy to push.

Also I had noticed that 5th had a whine to it.

Ohther than that no prior warnings.

Its a 93 sport.

P.s sorry bout typinjg errors... I'm on a cell phone in the tow truck posting this.

Thanks!
Cory

Sounds like mine when the clutch died....

Yeah I'm thinking clutch also... I got it towed back to the place I work now gotta get it home. I've noticed that while it will start just fine with the clutch depressed and the trans in neutral. If I let up on the clutch while its still in neutral, as I let up on the clutch the rpms drop like its engaging but trying to start in 5th and there's not enough power to move.

But it still rolls fine with the trans in neutral and the motor off wih the clutch out.

Wellll found out whats wrong.

transmission somehow drained itself of all fluid, and locked itself up and then in turn fried the clutch and flywheel

the trans was brand new rebuild. no idea where the fluid went, all seals were good, no fluid residue on the trans itself.

so now i have a $2700 repair bill from Eagle Transmission

Probably lost it's fluid from the plugs in the shift rails:(

Here's the fix...

Another preventive maintenance tip is to replace the rubber plugs in the shift rail bores with steel freeze plugs. The rubber plugs have a tendency to dry up and leak, and/or fall out. The plugs are located in the transmission top cover and face towards the rear of the truck. The part numbers for the metal plugs are: Dana #219-3052 or Dorman #555-108, you will need 3 plugs to do the job.

dontcha think that was the first thing I checked?!

the plugs are perfect, seals perfect, case perfect.

nobody knows how my fluid dissapeared.

Manual transmissions don't like to be run low on fluid. We have had quite a few towed in over the years for same concern.

It leaked out somewhere or someone decided to drain the transmission for you.
ATF doesn't just randomly disappear, it had to have gone somewhere.

when I installed the Trans on 5 -26-10 i made sure i filled it EXACTLY how it should be. everything was tight and as it should be

then housing had no evidence of leakage, no residue

i think somebody ####ed with me

i havent seen any puddles anywhere

Ouch! The M5OD on my F150 lost its fluid from the shift rail plugs. I, too had no puddles to show as it only leaked on the road. If the case is clean and it is not "human intervention", the only other place that comes to mind is the seal at the tail piece, but that would normally leave a puddle. Hmmmm.

the shift rail plugs were already replaced. that was NOT the issue

The oil could leak past the front input shaft seal and into the bell housing and leak only when your driving,or past the output shaft seal and into the transfercase, check the transfercase to see if its over full of oil. Elbow

transmission fluid, not oil

and 2wd

If it were leaking out of the bellhousing, there would be evidence on the exterior and likely a puddle as well. I'm still going with the "someone drained it for him" theory until proven otherwise.

Who services your your Ex, changes oil , filter, etc. ? the trans may have been drained by mistake. Elbow

haha...

the punishment is having to pay 2700 to fix the effing thing

Did you take it out yourself or did a shop do it?
