A lot of what I have read in the forums show using a torx to actually remove the MAF sensor from the housing, my Chiltons manual recommends servicing the whole unit. I have not removed the air tube yet, so I was wondering, if you take the MAF housing out, will the cleaner still clean the filaments, or do you actually have to remove the torx screws to get at this part of the MAF?
CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner is what I have. Thanks for the help.

First, I disconnected the battery and removed the MAF to clean it. I also removed the air tube to clean the screen. Replaced the air filter, reconnected the battery, and got a mile or two more per gallon.

you need anti theft torx to remove the maf.

i remove it and use electrical cleaner on it.

Or, you can break off the tiny tab in the center with a punch--

Once I popped mine out, I replaced them with like sized bolts for ease of removal next time on my SHO's since they seem to need to be out constantly... :D
