Today on the way to college i looked down and the temp gage was on the H and the check engine light was on. After letting it cool i started it again and 1 mile later it started again. So i had a flatbed take it to my local shop where it is sitting right now. I was wondering what esle i should have done to the car. It has 94,000 miles on it. At 88,000 miles i had the trans flushed and new fluid, got all filters changed (fuel, air) had the brakes done, tires rotated, flushed the radiator and added new fluid. This car has to last me along time so what else can i do? I want to get stuff before it becomes a problem. thanks

sounds like a thermostat.

Yep, I think your thermostat is shot. You can replace it yourself in about 30 minutes. It only costs about $5-$7.

Also if you haven't done it yet check your radiator and power steering hoses. It's about time to have those replaced, even if they look ok.
