Major oil leak

Hi all..
Have a fairly major oil leak that seems to be coming from the bell housing on my 4.0 sohc and assume its the rear main seal leaking.
Spoke to local dealer and asked if can replace the seal without splitting tranny and removing engine.
He recons it an be done but im sceptical.
Anyone done this repair themselves that can point me in the right direction.

Cannot replace the rear main seal without removing the tranny, do not need to remove the engine
