manual tranny conversion

which vehicles transmissions would fit onto a first gen explorer.
i wanna sway my a4ld for a manual 5 spd.
idk what trannys will fit the motor though.
any info would be great.

i did some searches, i didnt find a compatibilty chart or list, which is what im really wanting lol, it probly isnt easy to find tho.

im in no hurry though, this will be something i do in probly 2 yrs or so, but its better to plan early and start gathering parts now i figure

what about the 2nd gen auto tranny, will it fit my 93?

the 2nd gen transmissions are computer controlled so it would take a lot of work to make one work.
