manual transmission overhaul

how do i get the front bearing off the input shaft without tearing apart the whole transmission? is there somekind of special tool? just wanted to go ahead and change it while the transmission is out. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a hydraulic press and a bearing cone remover. That's the thing about rebuilding manuals... everything (or lots of things) are press fits. There is no shortcut. Oh and to replace, you need a replacer and a press as well. Another tool.
