Stock 1994 Mazda Navajo, with a manual tranny.

Great shape, runs well. Just turned 100K miles.

One issue that I can't figure out is with my manual transmission. I can shift into all gears except for 2nd. When I shift from 1st to 2nd, it seems like 2nd gear is in neutral. I can rev the rpms up, but it won't engage into 2nd gear. So I have been driving it, shifting directly from 1st to 3rd (and upwards) with no issues.

There is no grinding or problems shifting into any gear (including 2nd), otherwise, it is just like 2nd gear = neutral.

Any ideas?

thanks

Are you sure it's actually getting into 2nd. I've had problems with my ranger refusing second. Push clutch in, pull to 2nd, it won't slide in, so I go back to 1st and then back to 2nd. Let clutch out. Haha makes for a LONG shift but my old worn out 2.3 doesn't need to be jumping gears. And the 2.3 has more spaced out gearing as it is

Thanks for the advice -- I will give that a try.

The shifter clicks like it is going into second (like any other gear).. but nothing. When I shift there.. revs like neutral. It is like the gear is just 'spinning' in the transmission, but no bite.
