Max tire size 2006 mercury mountaineer

I’m looking for some beefy AT tires for winter. Looking for a wider and taller tire that have little to no rub. I’ve heard the 265 65 18’s wont rub, is that true or should i play it safe and go with the 265 60 18?

I've got 265/70 on mine....17" wheel with same backspacing as stock..with some good compression it rubs a wee bit but nothing to soil my draws with....

i have 265 65 19 toyo open country on mine and i had to drill two holes on inside front plastic wheel well and pull it back 1 inch with long heavy duty zip ties no rub works great
