Simply put, a few days ago i noticed a small message next to where my compass is in my 03. Next the the direction letter, in smaller letters is "CAL". Has anybody else seen this and what does it mean?

My best guess would be your compass needs to be CALibrated. Look in your owners manual for the steps to do it or use the search here.

I agree with Brian. CAL is displayed when you are calibrating your compass. You might have the issue with the display not working or not working correctly. The fix is to remove the cluster and re-solder the solder joints on the resistors.

This sounds pretty daunting, but its not a bad job.

Here are the threads I used for fixing this issue:

Removing the cluster: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218636

Making the repair: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217490

Good luck getting it sorted!!
