Michelin LTX A/T

Hey guys (and gals)!

i need a quick opinion on the Michelin LTX A/T's (not the a/t 2).. main concern is mpg as in i want to gain ATLEAST a couple back or so (i'm averaging 16-17mpg mostly city driving) and ride quality..

my current tires are BFG A/T KO's 30X9.5 r15's the LTX A/T's i'm looking at are 31X10.5 r15's.. i dont think i'll be seeing anything other than weekend trails for my ride right now since i'm focusing entirely on school and the mountaineer will be my daily driver for the next 6 years or so..

so, do you think i'll gain back a few mpg's by switching over to the Michelins?

Thanks!!!

You will actually lose mpg moving up to a 31. That's just shy of 10% over stock size and about 1 more inch wide of rubber making contact with the pavement, so figure your mpg will drop to about 13-15mpg range.

For mpg your best bet is to move back down to the stock 29.

Don't know about the MPG issue but the LTX is a great tire. Downside is they're expensive as all get out. Do you need an AT? A less expensive tire that gets rave reviews everywhere I've seen is the General Grabber HTS.

you really think i'll lose more mpg's even though i'm moving to a more street type tire from a rolling resistance monster bgf ko's that ride like bricks?

yeah, they're 31's and its giving me some doubts about getting them.. theyre used and quite dirt cheap thats why i'm giving them some thought.. i do drive like a granpa nowadays :D

If they're that dirt cheap, the hit in fuel in the long run is probably less than if you bought another set.
