Modified search function?

Perhaps if we had a better search function there would be less repeat posts. What I'm getting to is that when doing a multiple word searh, such as [shift kit] our search engine will pull up any post that has both shift and kit any where in the post. They don't have to be next to each other. With popular sear tools such as google this is fixed by typing ["shift kit"]. The engine will then only bring up pages with [shift kit] right next to each other. Is there anyway to modify our search engine to achieve this? It sure would save a whole lot of time, looking through threads that have both words you searched for, but have nothing to do with what your looking for and may cut down on repeat posts (for those who do actually search).

So you like Google's search engine eh

Well then you can use Google's direct site feature to search explorerForum. For example, since you mentioned shift kits, search Google with the query:

"shift kit" site:explorerforum.com

you should get this result: http://www.google.com/search?q="shi...ient=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Of course its not as up-to-date and precise as actually searching the forum's database (the engine reads people's signatures and profiles instead of just the post body).
