Mountaineer will not idle

I have an 01 Mountaineer (4.0) that was running great yesterday morning. When I attempted to start it in the evening, it wouldn't idle. Would run OK if I held the throttle down. I'v read where the IAC valve might be stuck.
My questions: Is the IAC on the 01 the same as the earlier models; i.e., 91 thru 99. Would I receive any sort of code on an OBDII scanner. The scanner reported no codes.

My IAC failed the same way as you describe. I did not get any codes. You may get a code if the idle is too high (P1506) but not for too low. I can disconnect the IAC without setting any code.

The IAC was the problem. You were right about the code. I unplugged the IAC and could not get a code. This forum saved me a lot of money and time, Thanks!!!
