Mounting a roof rack to a bare roof

I have a 92 2dr explorer and i wanna mount a roof rack to it. Problem is I dont have the stock rails. Does anyone know if I can buy the type of rails that come with for example the sport edition and then mount in onto my bare roof? or do you know any universal systems that would fit my truck?

Both Yakima and Thule make rack systems that mount in the door frames. Visit both of their repective sites and shop away.
