Well here are the pics I got from Gilmer.

Here is the beginning to my DAE WOODY trail attempt,
and yes I made it, after a repair and a little tug with the winch, Mudduck made it as well. I broke a hub, and he broke something in the front diff, we havnt inspected the internals so we are not sure at this time what it is.

Well, sorry I didn't have more pics of some of the other X's out there, it just seem like every time I caught up with them something was broke or they were waiting on someone. So I didn't get to do much offroading with them, wish I had. Well thnx for all who came, it was nice to see some of the other Xplorers out there. However just to let everyone know, Gilmer is a great place to go offroad and camp out.:D

nice..... it isnt a real trail run unless something breaks (it's just funnier when its someone elses truck you are with ;))

i saw you coming back home today (i-20 west bound around 2:50 pm near duncanville road underpass). i was heading to work when i looked over and saw you drive by. nice looking truck. glad you had fun.

Wish I could have joined you guys, but I decided to visit the cool country instead :D I'm in the San Fransisico Bay area right now visiting Tom Davis. The day time highs are in the 70s :D

Tomorrow I'm heading to Yosemite.

I got to get out by you guys in the fall or spring when it's not so hot and humid.

hey mike
glad u had fun wheeling iwth the jeeps. i was with johnston and the demon4x4 grp..along iwth trckmagic. they are hard core crew...banging and beating up their truck is just another day. dang...that is all i have to say. at around 4, i think 2 of the 5 were out of commission. trckmagic and gofast (i think) were the only crew running wiwth the exterra grp. johnston was trying to get up one of the trails and michael (red bull) was helping him out. i was out without a truck, so i head on home. i got pics. will post it later,.
nest time, i want to wheel with u guys... 2 to 3 diamond. so i can play with my truckkkthat is if i get the rear locked. those guys were running 4 and 5 diamond. all and all.. i had a bvlast. next time...soon i hope, we can go back and i have mine reaady to run the 2 or maybe even 3 diamond trails.

one thing i learn...lots of under carriage protection.

Well we hit 1 and 5 diamond trail, and quite a few 3 and 4 on Saturday, darkman ran with us Sunday morning as well, the 3 diamond and one of the 2 diamonds had ledges that were unpassable by a stock 4x4. However Darkman done an excellent job picking his line while he was with us and only required minimul tugs and assistance. I tried to remember what trails might be passable for people without 4x4, and with little mods, I have a list inside the truck for future reference.

I also have some good footage on my camcorder, including the exploding drive shaft on my buddies cherokee. He fixed it later on that day. Good seeing ya.

By the way, did anyone else run the Dewoody climb, I think me and Mudduck were the only candidates on that hill this weekend.

Just curious if any other Xplorers or Xterras ran that climb, I seen some great looking trucks out there this weekend.

We made it back to Dallas. Saturday went well. Gofast and myself hit Spiders Rivine (spelling ?) That is a great trail when you get off in the actual washes. Gofast has the pics of that. I know none of the explorers ran Dewoody as they were running Airstrip. Michael and John Stone made it up.
My carnage:
-Broken Warn Hub
-Bent the passenger side rocker
-Laid the explorer on its side in washout and have nice rock dent in drivers side door
-Laid explorer into a tree and damaged the roof rack a bit along with some more sheet metal.

Good times. We need more pics (Gofast, Michael ???)

are you missing a passenger dorr in this pic or am i just seeing things?

Sounds kewl, we did not get around to airstrip however, the guy at the gate was telling us on Sat night that airstrip had a hard ledge to climb at the end that had gotten worse over the last year or so. Man next time we'll have to stick with you guys some more instead of the jeepers. We also did spyders rivine on Sunday including the STOCKER DARKMAN he picked up most of his battle scars on that one. My only grief is that locker I put up front fights me worse than I had anticipated while turning. So in other words I built a lot of biceps while wheeling this weekend, I guess I'll get used to it.

On Sunday a had a near layover however I got lucky and just bent up my roof on the driver side since a tree stopped me from going over (thnk god for trees), other than that I lucked out and only suffered broken hub.

I think my buddy may have a problem with the front ring and pinion, its popping loud intermittently and getting worse. Good thing his jeep is still under warranty.

Well next time you all are going out let me know Truckmajic and I'll be sure be there on time.

I took all the doors off Saturday night because I was having trouble seeing the ground to make a good line.
The doors will stay off and starting tomarrow night I will be CUTTING THE ROOF OFF MY ENTIRE X AND INSTALLING
A CUSTOM ROLL CAGE AND CANVAS TOP.

:D

rick want to come hang out with me? i am only about an hour away from tom :) you could see the xvert before it goes into a junkyard... and see the slammed yota

Yes I know what you mean about the lockers. I have one in the front also and they can build your arm strength. Next time you need to turn better just unlock one hub until you get out of the tight area.

Speaking of trees. Gofast and I were pretty fond of them also. There were a couple times when the trees kept us from falling over and down the mountain.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Why all the gloomy faces??

I'll try the unlocking hub trick next time I'm out.
I had thought about trying it but was kinda scared to put all the tension into one wheel by unlocking the other and then try to force it to turn. But I am definitely gonna use that technique next trip.

Ok now where is my saw.

The pictures of DeWoody don't do it any justice. Last time I was there I watched a sweet Scrambler roll backwards down it. Someday I'd like to get back there, but its way too far for now.

nice...cant wait to see the finished product.

what are you going to do with the stuff you cut off. will it go on e-bay or to lucky members on the board?

We finally made it back to Houston about 9:00. That is a LONG drive at 50 mph. Dewoody hill was on the agenda for this morning, but the Demon crew suffered more breakage on the way to the trailhead, next time though.

Good choice Rick. We had heat indexes well over 100* this weekend.

John has plenty of good pics that will be up later, my few will be up later as well.

Well I am Glad I didnt try to go on this trip. I took my Explorer out to rent a Movie and on the Way home the Tranny started slipping. Good by Tranny....

Here are some of Swaks pics from Saturday morning. He had to get back to Dallas so he missed the good stuff. But here are a few from the rock garden.
