Well the wife put her foot down and said I can only do one or other so my choices now are.
1. put $2500 to $3000 in the 4.0 rebuild for the X

2.Buy a 1984 mustang off craigslist with mild built 302 for $1500. Which would leave me some mod money! Maybe enough to get my Windsor finished and dropped in!

What would you guys do?
The X engine isnt bad or anything just wanted to drop a whole new drive train in when the tranny is done.
But with the stang I get more insurance and more hassle from the wife!

Not even any thoughts on what you guys would do?

Thats a hard decision.

Could throw the money into the Mustang... cuz the 5.0 is worth it... but the insurance premium will bite you back

Is the Explorer still intact?

How about trading/selling the Ex for a newer 4.6 Eddie Bauer and start from there?

Explorer is fine, im just building a new tranny for it and was going to throw a fresh 4.0 in also at the same time. My truck has 152,000 miles on original engine.
I guess I could get the mustang and run it how it is for awhile, and just freshen up that 4.0 engine I got for the exp instead of a complete rebuild-rings, bearings, etc-
Shhh the wife would never know!!!

Went and checked out the stang this morning, aside from needing a paint job, its pretty nice. The engine runs great and sounds great with a cam, headers, and flowmasters!
Couldnt get a real idea of how fast it is because it was kinda snowing out and couldnt really get on it.
Talked him down to $1,350 ! Prob gunna get it this weekend
That will leave me enough to freshin up the 4.0 and throw some SOHC pistons in it for a little extra power without spending to much.
