Explorer weighed in on the scales at 4300 lbs. Ranger weighed in at 3800 lbs.

My explorer ran 18.805 @72.10 MPH. 4.0L ranger went 17.845 @ 76.68 MPH.

A 500 pound weight difference and a 1.0L less displacement for the ranger. Those 3.0L vulcan's are pretty quick.

Another guy had a 4.0L SOHC 2001 sport trac, and beat my friends ranger. he ran 16.5 or something like that.

haha, that was all out. i think i might have to do the throttle cable mod, not really getting to full throttle.

truck only does peels when its wet out. trying to get my truck to smoke on ashphalt is like trying to get a cat to not be lazy. Dunno if thats because of my a/t tires or the engine.

and don't forget, 4.0OHV equals 160HP in a 4300 lb truck that has 290,000km on it. 4.0SOHC woulda been fun. Might have to do a conversion sometime, or a nice done up carbed 302.

my dodge stratus with the 2.0L SOHC engine beats my truck. 17 seconds with that car. Although it is a 5 speed, not an auto.

i've driven a 2002 sport trac before with 4.0 SOHC. those are so fun to drive. the sound of the engine reving above 3 grand is addictive.
