I have a 2015 Explorer XLT 4WD it has just rounded 20,000 miles and yesterday i heard a metal sound from the right front wheel.
Turns out that the disc pads where down to the metal. Cheked the left side and they were as well allmost gone
Yes i drive a lot in mountains, but mostly just myself and no cargo.
Also the car had its scheduled checkup at 25,000 and the didn't mention anything about soon changing pads.
Seems at little to early for me - anybody has had similar experience

Where you drive, it's probably about right. I've had Explorer brakes replaced at 18,000 on older models and I drive in the WV mountains.

So, your Ex just turned 20K miles, but you just had a checkup completed @ 25K miles?

If you are driving in the mountains a lot, I could see that happening.
I've had pads wear out in less than 200 miles(on a race track of course).

I thought that was a little strange too. Maybe he's driving in reverse.:D
