My 2001 Ranger Edge 4x4 Supercab

02+ sports and tracs have the larger rotors (not all 01 do)
04+ ranger 4.0 also got the larger rotors up front

2000+ ranger torsion bar uses same caliper rotor and pads as out explorers, 98-99 had pvh hubs

Excellent, so the calipers were used for much longer, up to 2011 then. I have spare calipers someplace lost for both, the 2nd gen calipers are my favorite OEM caliper.

Check with Rock Auto, they have had Motorcraft front rotors for my 98 on closeout, about $27 each. I bought three and used one recently. The pads are still the most critical brake component, besides fluid and hose conditions. I still really like the severe duty pads if they can be found, I have at least one extra set.

I bet the Ranger uses a different pad, and caliper, but if needed the different model year calipers(and pads), those can be swapped among year models. I used my original 99 calipers on my 99 when I swapped to the 2001 Sport Trac rotors(the spindle is the upgrade part I hunted). The calipers will swap, I just chose to keep the stock calipers, (thus the same 1995-01 normal 2nd gen pads).
+1 for the MC severe duty. Seems to work quite well. I paired it w powrrstop drill slot rotors.

Those SD brake pads have a blue steel base with a black anti-squeal backing plates. I think that's what I recall, they are easy to spot, I've gone through a bunch of them.

BRSD-652
part number 2U2Z-2V001-AD

edit, crap, they have been discontinued now. I bought a set a year or two ago, I try to keep them on hand. RA didn't have them the last time I looked, but Amazon and eBay still did. Now a search pulls up mostly dealers, out of stock of course, and other part number suffixes. I don't know if they updated the part, I just hunted briefly.

Here is an Amazon link to be able to place a back order, if they ever get any more. The page also shows a good picture of them, shaped all the same, but the blue color too as I suggested. BRF-652 is the common number for the regular pads, those are easy to find.

Thank you for reminding me about Rock Auto, I just ordered some brake pads and Raybestos high carbon rotors which I used to use all the time until they were not available at my local parts store. I got the last rotors in stock, do you think they will get more in later?

Hit or miss with the supply chain these days
Just when I think I can’t get my Bosch fuel pumps anymore they turn back up on the market
