Hi All, it has been a while since I have been around. I sold my lifted 93 explorer several years ago and got to playing with powerstrokes. Recently I have been lingering around, but not that active. I was brought back when I bought a SAS'd 92 explorer that turned out to be plagued by issues from day one. As always, this site is the best for our explorers by far.

I also added a 92 (stock) sport, 01 5.0 AWD XLT and a 96 5.0 XLT 2wd to my collection. I have sold the SAS'd 92 as that was an auto and my daughter that drove it is leaving for the navy.

Anyhow, here is my now not so stock 92 sport mod list.

Quite to list. Love it. How do you like the the 422 cam?

I love the sound, but right now it is geared with 3.08's, so it really needs to be re-geared to feel the cam.

Do you have a video of what the cam sounds like at idle?

I don't, but I will get you one.

How's your gas mileage with all you got and the 10:1 compression? I'm looking into getting 422 cam and heads for my 94 sport and wondering how well everything works with a first gen Explorer.

I am afraid to track the MPG lol I haven't driven it a whole lot since the rebuild, because my 5.0 is still more fun to drive. Let's call it a slow break in process.. ;)

Gotcha. I've heard the 422 cam has a difficult time passing emissions. Do you have emissions where you live?

Not bad at all, but I am used to a fox mustang with flowmaster 40's.

Anything more you planning to do with your Explorer?

Not really, I actually have it up for sale. If it does not sell, gear changes will be about it.

Gotcha. One last question, what tires are do you have?

Stock size, cheapies. Nothing special. They are still the same tires that were on it when I bought it 3 yrs ago.

Awon2,

It passed our DEQ today with ease.
Glad to hear! Makes me want to put in the 422 cam even more now knowing i could possibly pass.

How much HP do you think you have at the wheels? 2wd or 4wd?

No Idea. It's 4wd 5spd with Manual T case. Still need to do manual hubs though.
