My 98 V8 Daily driver, Gas sipper, stock for now.

Today went and picked up my new to me 98 Explorer V8 Eddie Bauer, with 121,000 miles, loaded, new tranny, underneath excellent condition, not hardly any rust. For now will stay almost stock, only changing things to gain better fuel mileage since it is my dailey driver. Got 17mpg on way home from St. Louis taking it easy doing speed limit.

Dan thats the plan! After 4406, My hope is the 4406 and tm headers with k/n filter and good muffler will increase my mpg to around 20, and I baby it getting 17 now which is only 1.8 less than My escape which is why i got rid of it!!

I thought that steering wheel was on 99+. My 98 is an XLT but how come I'm the only one w/ the older style?

No idea about the steering wheel?

Those were only on eddie bauer and limited edition.

It looks like mine before I got ahold of it.

Sunday, going to pick up my new 4406 manual, lever, boot, peice of the harness for $275, and help remove from rolled over truck, coming out of a 98 Model does have VSS port he advised yeah!!
Wondering if the front driveshaft from truck will work, was 98, 4.6, 5spd, 4406??

Woot! Good score there Brad. Now add those TM headers on it and lets go wheel it :)

Not sure about wheeling it till I have some sliders figured out. And some allterrains, whioch ive been looking at different tires and interco is making a new tire that is just a bit past allterrain but comparable they say? SS-M16, that is pretty cool? Affraid it may not last long enough?

Heading out right now to Cuba, MO to go get me a 4406 and almost everything other than a rear driveshaft for the swap, pretty excitted.

Well, back home from looking at the t-case and its not with me, but on my way back to buy the entire truck, got offered heck of a deal on it, after parting it out should, have t-case, a rear fullwitdh 8.8 with 4.56 gears and locker, set of 16x10 wheels with 35% tread left 35s for free :) Also driveshafts and I will just have rear professional shortened and balanced.

Todays parts purchase

Well today ordered 10 of these 1in Body lift blocks
http://www.shopatron.com/content/shopping/706.2.1.1.2477.0.0.0.0

I orginally didnt want any body lift, but it will give me the extra clearance to make for little smoother 4406 swap and tad more clearance for cheap. Im un decided about torsion twist, cause not really wanting to put my warrior shackles on the rear and have them hangin down?

4406 swap will begin this weekend, only part pending is rear driveshaft and will have that covered thursday.

Update been awhile

1in body lift installed

4406 will be completed tommorow, just have to put front driveshaft in and tank skid plate, what fun it was doing this with a full tank of gas LOL i wasnt thinking.

Next decide if torsion twisting and shackling or leaving it alone for awhile and getting back to my Ranger.
