Work has slowed down for me so that means I get to do some work around the house
This is a built-in entertainment center I am building in my walkout, it's roughly 7'x8'x32". Hopefully get it finished by next weekend.
Here's what we were starting with, a closet with no doors...
Relieving some stress...
Removed the 2x4's. Wall is not load bearing, but I put a header board in anyway.
Test fitting the face frame before the glue dries(once is does, might as well start fresh again if you screw up
)
Got the box pieces cut and laid out and then assembled with face frame on it.
IT FITS!!! It was actually a tighter fit than I planned on it being but that's fine with me
GF's father came over to help work on it. He sanded everything smooth while I screwed the cabinet to the wall.
Got the trim with flutes installed. I made the bottom piece the trim sits on.
Building the face frame for the bookshelves then intalled them. The last picture shows that I made the shelves short so that I can install puck lighting in the back(lights will be on top).
Got the middle shelves put in and installed the arch. The doors would be on, but I bought the wrong hinges
I'll change them out tomorrow and hopefully get the doors put on.
I still need to put the crown molding on top, intstall a shelf in the bottom left side and do some more sanding. More to come as I get farther along!
Update 2: Finally got the Crown Moulding and doors installed
Now it's fill nail holes, do some more sanding and then paint!!! I hope to have it finished by next weekend so I can start on another project.
Update 3: IT'S FINISHED!!! Everything is done except for the lighting in the back of the bookshelfs and ontop of the crown moulding which will be finished this spring. (The cord you see on the top right is lighting that's currently inside the crown moulding)
Thank you everyone for your positive comments and if you have any questions on what/how I did something or how I can help you, please ask! This was a fun project and I hope you enjoyed following along
Update: No lighting, but now tiling the floor instead. Hopefully we'll get it worked out if we can figure what tile we want. Here's today progress-
Before-
After-
Update: I actually have about 90% of the tile down. I have all the edges cut and laid in place, just need to put them down with thinset. Need to buy a Japense style saw to trim the bottom of the door casing so I can lay tile. This was a last second decision to install them the way we did and it turned out SWEET!!! Below is only a teaser picture, finished pictures to follow by the weekend
Yes, it was snowing as I was cutting tile....
Update: Finally have it all finished, just a few touchups and then put everything back!!!
The tiles are different colors(same tile, but was bought from two different locations, so color was a little different) but the pictures make it seem more worse than it really is.
Lastly, the new trim that I installed:
