So, i finally got around removing my charcoal canister bracket, which was... in a bad shape.

Until i buy new one from somewhere? or make one, zip ties will have to play the part of charcoal canister bracket.

Now i am wondering if there would be ANY place where i could buy one, otherwise i will have to make one from angle iron.

Doubt you'll find a new one , maybe one at a salvage yard.
I had the same problem made one out of some sheet metal will try and get a pic of it later. Good Luck.

Edit: That's one part on these trucks they should have made out of plastic.

The one on my wife's 99 Sport was badly rusted also. I found one off a 2000 Explorer 4 door that is plastic. I took a hole saw with a battery powered drill with me the the wrecking yard & measured & drilled holes in the cargo area floor of the 4 door Explorer & removed the bolts through the top which was easier then fighting with them from under the truck. Just be careful removing the bolts because if they are rusted to the retainer clips it will break the bracket tabs which is what happened to me on 2 of the 3 bolts & had to epoxy them back on. On the 1999 the retainer c clips that the retainer bolts screw into are on the frame & bolt from the bottom, the 2000 has the retainer c clips on tabs on the plastic bracket & bolt from the top.

In the backwater part of the world where i live at, i have nearly 0 chance of finding one. I turned google upside down, couldn't find anything :/

I guess i have to fabricate one my self.

Edit: those plastic ones are nice since you dont have to worry about rusting, one of you guys should make mold of one and start mass fabricating them from plastic or metal.

Today i managed to get something done after work, not much, but something.

i made bracket thing for the canisters from 1.2" x 1.2" angle iron. I welded them together, but no way i am showing those ugly welds here (yet).

Will have to cut one end open so i can attach the connections, which seem frustratingly defiant in connecting to the canister if they are not in exactly certain angle.

I have never welded in my life. Mine would pry be beginner bird-turd welds.

Really, if your welds hold, nice job, problem solved

So, i got few things done today, couldn't quite complete it, but the canister tray is in place for test drive, had to rush it a bit as i was short on time after work and it shows in weld quality which is shameful, but it holds.

I still need to paint it and generally make some adjustments to the install height, which can be spaced with nuts. Also need to make system to actually attach the canister in place, but for now i can rest in peace knowing they wont fall to highway.

Edit: When i paint it, i will take better pictures and video. Also the nut connection allows alignment of the tray.

Nice work, the look of the welds doesn't matter since it will be under the truck. As long as it holds together it is good.

+1
That should outlast your truck.
