My Insurance Is more than my car payment! Hlp!

Geez how can you afford to buy something like a car when your still going to school. I was like 20 when I bought my first and it was a beater. Since then I have made up for it. In Alberta Canada I have 4 vehicles insured and pay less that $150.00 a month.

91 Ex XL (wife's)
96 z/28 (mine,mine,mine)
84 Thunderbird turbo coupe
78 f150

Thanks....

When I was 17 I was bringin in about $23,000 a year working tech support for a small software company. Not that great, but since I was living at home it was enough to pay the bills and allow for a *****in F-150 :). When I turned 18 (about 9 months after buying my F-150) I got a job bringin in about $30,000 and went to the explorer/saturn combo. Now I'm making quite a bit more and I've got the F-150/explorer combo.
Computer software, I still say its the industry to get in to. i just can't stand programming, and I can't stand computer geeks, LOL. Tech support (at least at my company) is good because you still interact a lot with the outside world, get to travel on occasion, make decent money... it isnt' too bad ;).

when i graduated college i had 3 tickets and i was getting denied by insurance companies. when we got hte ex i was paying $190 a month with geico then i got another ticket and switched insurance comps. electric insurance is who i am with now and my isurance is $90 a month for full coverage and i just had to fiel a claim that cost over $4000 and they didnt blink. when i was 16 i paid $120 a month just for liability. its weird how these comps worked. i thought that i would get crappy service based onthe difference in price and all that dang it turned out pretty good.

I work my butt off really. I work like 30-40 hours a week only makin a little over $6. My payment is about 150 and my insurance is 45. My gas is what gets me. I pay like 100 a month for it. All of this leaves me at pretty much no money at the end of the month.

What possible kind od insurance coverage can one get for $45/month? What is the deductable?

If you buy a more expensive car, your payments will be higher, and hopefully it will end up being more than your insurance.
Just kidding. It sucks being young. I paid terrible insurance with American Family but was under my folks. It was barely cheaper than going anywhere buy myself. Progressive was one company that turned out to be real friendly and they all drive White Explorers(I hear thats what the cool guys drive)

im paying on average $240 a month for gas.500-600 miles a week (usually 2 tanks a week.) gas is almost as much as my car payment.

just having turned 17, my parents put me on the insurance so i can drive legally. as a part time driver for the explorer that is registered to my dad, i pay about $116 a month ($1400 a year). notice i said part time. i know someone who got a speeding ticket and whose insurance went up $1000 a year. i hate these rediculous amounts we have to pay!!!!!!!!!

I too am registered as the secondary driver. It's in my parents name also. My deductable is like $500 for collision, $100 non-collision. That's probably not very good but hey, I've never gotten a ticket or gotten in a wreck.

Well I just turned 19 and am paying 2600 a year for my 93 Explorer, full coverage but only 2100 for my 86 Vette, just liability 'red' I just got, now that makes no sense. Even though the Explorer cant move out of its own way. I have found that the insurance company plays a big role in coverage to well in NJ.

I live in philadelphia and would kill for $215 a month. Only 5 more months until I am 25 thank God, but insurance and in Jersey is horrible. I go through statefarm and pay about 3000 a year, full coverage, full liability(i own a home) without the discount for the homeowners insurance, the policy would be lke 3600 a year. BTW-don't raise your deductibles, it doesn't lower your policy rate enough to warrant the out-of-pocket cost potential for repairs due to accidents. Going from a $250 to a $1000 deductible only lowers your rate about $100 a year, hardly worth it.

I'm 17 with a '98 XLT and I only pay about 125 a month, but spent about 400 on the downpayment

What are your liability and damage limits? What about the deductable?

not sure, but i think pretty decent

Insurance

I know I said this in another post....but just for giggles, I will say it again.

I have State Farm and they give me this:

Full coverage (liability, comprehensive & collision)
Deductibles:
$100 comprehensive (windshields, fire, theft, hail damage)
$250 collision
Medical benefits, Towing & labor, Rental Reimbursement, Uninsured Motorist, Use of non-owned car.

$49.00 a month

I think I get $1.00 a month discount for having it debited from my checkings automatically. I checked my statements and was not given any sort of discount on my truck when I put my house on with them.

My limits are $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident, $50,000 property damage ( I just called and asked)

Wow.

Seems like a really good deal to me. How old are you though? That probably has something to do with it.

Ages

A little bit, but I am accident free (at least none were my fault), got a ticket once for speeding, and I am 28 w/ 2 children.

Ahhh. So that's the trick! Turn 28 and have 2 kids....

It's total BS!! The people that have clean licenses have to suffer because there are a couple idiots out there who cant handle their car responsibly. There really isnt much you can do.
