How are you going to listen to Devo while running down the track?

I don't know! I'll have to work on that so I can listen to "Whip It" while I'm whoopin' ass;)

Do you really want to know??;)

It was in the low 70s today. Worked in the garage with the overhead door open and wearing a T-shirt:D

Rick, you officially suck!!!:p: It's about 6° here with a wind chill around -10°. Schools are closed tomorrow because the HIGH will be about 8° with a wind chill in the -20° range.

Are you going to have to get it inspected after the cage is done? Or will you be able to wait until the whole car is done?

I won't need to have the cage certified since I won't be running faster than 10.00. There's too many extra expenses piled on once you break into the 9s. I'm building more cage than I need for the class I'm running in just for my own peace of mind.

Don't worry... You'll be able to rub it in when it's 110 here for a month straight:eek:

Did you turn on the cooler.. It must have started to get warm in there with the welder going, or did having the door open help?

It was 74F here today.. I almost turned on the a/c in the car today :)

Cage looks good Rick, but I have one question. Looking at post #261, are you going to have any issues with heat transfer from the headers into the rollcage and having that translate back into the driver's compartment? The headers and the cage look mighty cozy the way the pix is snapped.

Oh ok, I thought you had to be certified for anything under 12.00

It needs to be checked at tech inspection at the track, but it doesn't need a sticker.

Just an optical illusion. Hard to tell how much room there is in a 2d photo. They're really not too close.

"The roll cage of any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker, or 135 mph or faster, must also be certified by NHRA every 3 years, and have a serialized sticker affixed prior to participation"

You could always get those boat speakers that bolt on the rollbar:D

Did you have to do all the notching on the cage? Looking good BTW;)

Yes, but I can't claim all the credit. I had some help. I did do a lot though.

Lets see the pile of wasted tube :D Looking good Rick.

Thankfully we haven't burned through too much. What we screwed up was able to be used for other stuff.

Still have to add door bars, a diagonal brace for the top of the cage, cross bar for the main hoop, and a couple kickers off the main hoop which will tie into the subframe connectors. Then the little stuff... gussets, braces for the seat backs, and a few extra tubes I want to throw in for a little more triangulation.

Yeah, good use of the speaker holes!

Where does it attach going into the dash, the firewall?

Since the car is unibody you want to tie as much of the chassis together as you can.

The tubes go through the firewall and attach to the front frame rails.

Woo hoo!! Cage structure is complete!!! Big thanks to Christian from "Bad Flattitude Fabrication". He taught me a lot and welded all the tough to get areas.
