I picked up a set of the Image Dynamics cd-2 pros last night in used/good condition.

Also, talked mtx into letting me special order/making me some "refurb" thunder 1004 amplifiers (since it's just too hard to find them anywhere in decent shape online and i need them to match everything i already have). So i'll be running 3 942s, 2 1004s, and a 564.

the list of stuff i need is getting shorter- i'm still in need of an mts 7500 series 10" dual 2 ohm (or single 4?), 4 more elemental designs eu-700s, and one more set of the ID horns.


if by any chance any of you have a spare amplifier of any kind laying around please let me know- i'm in need of a broken amplifier from any major company.

so i let my little brother take my audi to colorado (quattro and snow tires) and so i'm actually driving the escape on my commute right now-

this has prompted a couple changes to it and i will be making more over the next few days including hooking up the ipod and i installed some diamond audio hex series 5.25s in place of the focal access 5.25s it used to run. I'm also considering swapping to a new head unit sometime soon.

currently the escape has-

panasonic 903u/modded 12v ps2 as sources/(hardwired ipod very soon)
kicker 2-way electronic x-over
modded 1501 mtx amp
282 mtx amp
diamond hex 5.25s up front
kicker L7 12s rear
myron and davis 6" lcd in dash
sharp 13" mounted on the fiberglass subwoofer enclosure

you like the diamonds more than the focals? hrm, I had the opposite feeling. BUT that is why car audio is a tricky *******, what sounds good to one person, could sound like ass to the next.

honest opinion is that the diamonds are not great for the $- however, i got a very good deal on them used (try: a few hrs of labor)

they are much better than the focal access that were in there before though- but that's not the fairest comparison as they are vastly different price points with hex series vs access.

In the end i'd ultimately prefer a lot of other speakers, but i don't let that get in the way of the fact that i have these (the diamonds now) and they sound very very good in the grand scheme of things.

Here's some pictures of our other SUV. One was taken in the drive way, and the other was taken in Palm Springs. We usually drive when we take vacations. I'll see if I can find some better pictures though. I should have some other pictures.

nice truck! I considered one when i was shopping for a new car 15 months ago. I ended up with my a6 basically due to the gas prices situation. Otherwise i'd have probably ended up with a land rover discovery II or that body style escalade.

actually, have only messed with them to make sure they work.

I'm 90% sure at this point i won't be running them in anything. It's looking like i'll be using mtx or id mids.

In my personal experience if you are only using them up to say 1k they will have more midbass than the id chameleons, but I've never had experience with the mtx mids.

since i'm also running a 10" 7500 up front the mid-bass isn't as incredibly important as it is in some situations- not that i dont want it to be excellent

there is a very good chance i'll end up with the redesigned e.d. mids (whatever they are called)

Haha yeah that will definitely be a lot of midbass then, but the id's are excellent sounding mids and are able to be crossed over much higher than the 700s

on that end i'm using the full body horns as well- so i can run a lower x-over point (to the point where almost any mid can handle the situation)

i guess i'm not really asking my mids for a whole ton- lol
