Solved My transmission shifts hard after battery replacement.

Battery died went to auto store had new battery installed now suv hard shifts between gears ??
Never had the issue before battery replaced....

The computer has to set a new shifting profile. It might take a while.

As BrooklynBay posted, Page 284 of the Owner's Manual, 4th edition;

Automatic transmission adaptive learning
Your transmission is equipped with an adaptive learning strategy found in
the vehicle computer. This feature is designed to increase durability and
provide consistent shift feel over the life of the vehicle. A new vehicle or
transmission may have firm and/or soft shifts. This operation is
considered normal and will not affect function or durability of the
transmission. Over time, the adaptive learning process will fully update
transmission operation. Additionally, whenever the battery is
disconnected or a new battery installed, the strategy must be relearned.

UPDATE :: after driving all day the hard shifts stopped and everything went back to normal

This might help to not loose memory. I read this years ago. Before you replace a car battery make a nine volt hook up to a power/lighter outlet. Plug in the nine volt to power outlet. Change the car battery and replace the positive and negative cables to battery. This will save the memory for the trans/and radio.

Actually, I disconnect my battery and reset the transmission about every 10,000 miles. I allow it to relearn my driving patterns.

You may not receive an answer from that member. He was last seen here on September 26, 2021.
As mentioned, when the battery is replaced, the transmission has to basically 'relearn' the driver's driving style. This is covered in post #4.
