I saw a short 3/8th in ID, short rubber hose (18in long) tangling from around the spare tire on my 94.
So I dropped the spare.

I cannot figure out for the life of me where it connects to. It had a fastener clip that attaches to who knows where.
It was "dry" ie no gas smell or looked like any fluids had been flowing throught it. Why do I think it attaches to left side of the axle ...there seems to be a "fitting" with a broken tip at the end..... so it is not going to attach there anymore. A breather hose maybe.

Any guesses? Thanks

Sounds like the breather hose for your rear axle.....extend them now while your down there if youplan to go off road..........

Yup, it's the breather for the rear diff. There should be a nub that it fits to on the axle just driverside of the diff. Mine ripped off also cause Ford didn't make the hose long enough so it snapped off the axle. the clip clips to some sheetmetal by the spare. 410s right that you should just go ahead and extend that line. My tranny and diff breather lines go under the hood to a small round air-type filter.

Thanks guys.....I suspected but was not sure.
I know there is one on the front axle too.
So I quess since it seems to have broken where the hose fits on .... its on my "to do" list.

I'm guessing that "litttle guy" is threaded in the housing and hopefully not a show stoppers to replace.
