Guess this means alternate plans if you were going to the Naches area for Memorial weekend

TRAIL CLOSURES TO OCCUR: From April 15 through June 15 all motorized use trails on the Naches Ranger District will be closed. This closure will be in effect to protect wet trails from extensive damage that occurs during wet spring-time weather.

The closure is intended to minimize impacts to trails and resources during the spring when trail integrity is most compromised by heavy use, especially during the first major spring holiday.

The more impacts in the early season, the harder it is for trail crews and volunteers to clear and repair trails. Crews often do not complete trail rehabilitation caused by early season use so work is carried over to the next season, compounding needed repairs.

If you have questions about these trail closures please contact Doug Jenkins at 509-653-1468 or at dsjenkins@fs.fed.us .

I have been keeping a close eye on this on other sites since this is (was) our big wheeling holiday weekend over east. Even though I am unhappy with there desision, I feel even worse for thoes that dont find out about this and wast there time and money driving over there just to be turned around because of this... Good luck to all 3 (that I remember) LEO's keeping hundreds of unhappy wheelers and campers from hitting the trail anyway... Just another example of how bad things have become with limited ORV access in our state.

Sorry Rick, didn't mean to hyjack your thread with my rant...

Honestly Ben with the size of my rig I can't do much in that area till mid June or so anyways. For people with larger or well "grande" sized rigs like yours it is sad. But I'm still gonna stick with respecting it. There is a chance the trails "will be better" for it in the long run. Don't forget .... I have to straddle your rutts! And I'm dam proud to do it .......

I just have a hard time understanding why so many clubs and other wheelers stand behind this delayed opening? I know naches gets hit hard that weekend ( I was there) and steps need to be made to make it better but suporting any kind of limited asccess for any ORV group big or small has a bed effect.... I blame the hole thing on other peoples agenda's alot more then any trail damage done in the last 30 years.

Small tires? That's never stoped you! You may not be able to do some of the bad trails around here but I woud bet money that you get out and enjoy more back roads and trails a year then my "kinda" street legal trail queen and I ever could. Making a tough trail is fun but just going out and enjoing the outdoors is what its all about. I cant wait to till we get another chance to hit the trail!

bring it by, we can weld those spider gears right up...:D

Ok, it didn't happen. But, the trails are still closed till June 15th

Guess it;s time to get my fat butt back on the mountain bike

Is there enough interest to plan a camping/wheelin' trip for the opening of Naches/Manastash area June 17-19th?

Lets do it, Forrest and I were already planing heading over that weekend.

I think I'm gonna try to head over early, like Thursday morning or so.

Probably.

The way things are going at work, I may take more time off.

Every project on my board is due before then with 6 due in 2 weeks. Lots of pushing and shoving going on to make that happen.

Guess you will have to wheel that much harder to make up for it right? How far up 73 did you guys get the other weekend, looks like alot of snow up there still?

Several miles. I was actually amazed how far. We headed up several roads and pretty much hit snow on all just passing 2000ft. Man-O-Man there is way more snow this year compared to last year same time! Well at least on the west side??

Phil and I are heading east Sunday to "scout" Cle Elum Ranger district area right up to the edge of Naches Ranger district

have fun in the snow and take lots of pic's!

Nah, it'll be ok over on "that" side. The only way to find out is to go. Want to do some late spring camping in that area. Easier to check it out with a day trip than loaded up with camping gear. I'll post pics up if not here, over on FB
