The install was just finished last night at the shop.
I purchased the interface from:
http://www.avelectronic.com/NavigationVid-Switcher.htm

Everything was installed by Stereo Upgrade in Ozone Park, NY. The Nav and Factory DVD player had to be modified. The modifications were done there as well by an electronics expert that leases space from Upgrade Stereo.
I highly recommend their shop if anyone is in the area. Willie is the owner and also does installs. He's a great guy. Edward is the electronics wizard. He repairs everything from radios, DVd players, to Window motors.

Now on with the Pics:

The resolution on the Nav screen is Great. The above picture doesn't do it justice. The rear view camera turns on automatically when in reverse or i can turn it on with the RF remote at any time. The camera has a very wide angle on it. It can see cars in my blind spot. I have 2 more video inputs and a S video input. I plan on adding a car pc some time in the near future. I am extremely satisfied with the set-up.

I also had them install an old school AudioControl Amp under the rear seat for my 8" rockford fosgate sub in the stock location. The amp is brand new. he had it on display for about 8 years. He gave me a great deal on it. The sound in my car is awesome. Perfect balance of sound between my front components and 3 ways in the back and now some decent bass.

Nice set up! How do you receive the TV channels? And you have OEM Bluetooth, is the that the Mobile-Ease from Ford?

Thanks, The interface from Avelectronic has a optional built in TV tuner. And yes i have the Mobile-ease. It works great and it even pauses the dvd when i make or receive a call.

does it announce or display the number of the person calling, or does it just say 'incoming call'?
And what TV channels do you receive?

It mutes the sound and a ring tone goes off.
I only recieve the VHF channels like CBS, NBC, FOX, UPN, local programming, and a few spanish channels. The reception is not that good. When in park you can get some reception. Ironically the spanish channels have the best reception.

I am interested in doing this mod. Can you tell me what you use to switch things on and off? Does it somehow interface with the factory head unit? For instance... if I am in CD... what do I need to press to get to TV?

It has a remote that controls what is displayed. Very simple to switch between inputs.

I contacted the manufacturer, and they said something about having to send in my Nav unit for some modifictaions internally. Did you have to do this? Then they gave me the price for basically everything you have, that is what I want... and it came out to $829 I think, which included the Nav reworking. Does this sound about right?

Yeah i had to have my nav unit and rear dvd player modified. (to get a video out) I didn't send it in. There is a guy in queens that is authorized to do the work. He rents out space in my installers store. It was very convenient and i didn't have to risk shipping out my expensive nav unit and rear dvd player. Price sounds about right.

Just curious, do all 4th gems come pre wired for a backup cam, or do you have to run wires from the cam to the front?

I do not think the 4th gen is prewired. Back cam was never an option on those. When I installed the back up cam on mine, I opened up the rear litigate, drop the ceiling and snaked the cables to the front.

Thanks. I just need to find the best camera to install in the best location.
