Alright Boys! I need some serious help. First i'm not exactly sure if this post belongs here so I apologize ahead of time.

Alright I was recently given a front ibeam long travel suspension kit that came off a 97 Ford ranger.

I have a 94 ranger so I thought OOOOOO Perfect! But I dont want suzie "my ranger" to decide to do a cartwheel like my baja betty did and leave me out of a daily driver.

So I started searching for a cheap truck or explorer cause all me buddies said 2wd rangers and explorers are I beams in the front.

1. Is that True?

So I came across a Navajo for like 700 bucks and i was like OOO perfect it is the same as a explorer..... BUT!!!! I read that all navajos are 4wd...:(

So now what I really want to know is: Will I be able to convert a 4 wheel drive Navajo back down to a 2wd or is there anyway I can put on that I beam kit I got?

I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question. I just really have NO FRICKEN IDEA! and never actually seen a navajo's front suspension If i did I'd be able to tell. I'm a big girl I know what i beams look like. But i just dont want to drive 2 hours to see the navajo and have it be something i cant even work with.

Thanks guys! any info would be a GREAT HELP!:salute:

UPDATE!: Now after just overcoming my blonde and actually just searching for the diferent types of longs travle kits for ranger explorers i realized they look like nothing the same. SNAPS! I think i need some rest so I can think more clearly.

In 1992 they made a 2 wheel drive Navajo. I think that is the only year they made 2 Wheel

So if the navajo i'm looking at is a 2wd. will my i beam kit i have from the ranger work?

yes, even if it was 4wd you could still remove the TTB (twin I-beam 4x4) and bolt on beams in the same location. You would just remove the front driveshaft and not use the transfer case. I would be cautious though, if you cartwheeled a Ranger already be afraid of a Navajo because they have the shortest wheelbase. These trucks like to buck in the whoops until you give the rear some love as well.

And also for your info, Rangers run beams up until 97s where Explorers and Navajo's stopped in 94.

Unfortunately, no (not without considerable fab work anyway).
The Explorer (Navajo) still uses the 4x4 frame crossmember even though it's 2WD, and has a different length passengerside beam. The 2WD Ranger axle bracket will not fit a 4WD-style crossmember.
