So, I have a 92 XLT, 5.5 Superlift, 35x12.50x15 Coopers, and am trying to decide whether to put my 3" body lift on it. I kinda like the height now, I would look even cooler if it was bigger but it may lose some functionality. TBars truck looks sweet and doesn't look stupid high but I am wondering if it is worth it. It doesn't even look like I'll have to trim at all for the 35's at this point and I've flexed it out a bit...

Tell me what you think... here's a couple pics for reference.

You don't need more lift, you need lockers.

no BL on that............................ get you some lockers.

You answered your own question.

It doesn't even look like I'll have to trim at all for the 35's at this point and I've flexed it out a bit...

Why go higher if you don't need to? I would trim anyway before I put 3 more inches. In fact I did trim the front a little for my 36s.

Why go higher if I don't need to? Simply 'cause:

A - I already have the body lift
B - It just looks cooler.

And thanks for the locker comments guys...like I don't know I need a freakin locker...My budget is already blown for this truck for now. If one of you has a spare ARB or Electrac kicking around you want to donate to a good cause, then by all means... A locker will come sometime in the future. I need a selectable one mostly cause I don't trust a detroit or a lunchbox on the highway covered in ice and snow in the winter...

As for the body lift, I may throw it on, see how it looks and if I hate it, then I guess I can pull it off.

personally I like the "fenderwell" look...... you got the BL, if you wanna install and check your stance, then uninstall if need be.......... go for it.......... it's your's {nice rig}

A - Sell it and use the money for something else.
B - Personal preference there. I like the lower with bigger tires look.
C - Higher COG isn't a "simply 'cause" reason, it's actually a negative.
D - Save time by not putting it on.

Just trying to help, but as mentioned, it's your rig. :)

I wouldn't body lift more than 2" but that`s my opinion. Shows way too much frame. Doesn't look very good. Either way you still have to screw around with your bumpers and connection-type stuff.
I'd invest elsewhere, You already have a fair amount of lift. Yeah, I have a 2 inch body lift, just ignore that.

I love the color, ditch the pinstripe though! :p:

PS North shore off-road? Does Alberta have a North Shore?

I've got 6" susp. and 3" body and if I could take the body lift off I would. I started with 2" susp, added 3" body and liked it. Then I swapped out the 2" to 6" and its just too tall. My sliders and bumpers are built and welded to work with the body lift...so I can't easily get rid of it.

Well, I've definitely got enough good reasons not to use it. You win FROADER... I already knew the right answer, I just like the idea of bigger. I have pretty much decided that if I want bigger then I am going to go with 60's and 44" TSL's or something. Everytime I look at the rig, I love the way it sits. No body lift for me. Anybody want a PA 3" Body Lift? $50 + shipping...:D My budget is running thin...

And ld50...no, Alberta has no North Shore;)...but we do have a ton of businesses who think they can charge stupid prices and people will still shop there. I won't...therefore, NSOR has all the business I can give them...

Anyway, no body lift for me. I'll still take a selectable locker for my 8.8 if someone wants to donate...

...Thanks for the compliment...:salute:

...All the above post pretty much have answered the question but it is up to you...

Myself personally, I would say...

1) don't put it on since you need the money...It's not a great benefit if you are already lifted...

2) Use the money to get more flex...The reason I say this is you mentioned you have 35's and no rubbing...Even with my body lift and 35's, I have trimmed a fair amount and I am about to get the sawzall out again..:hammer:

3) Use the money to build yourself a set of Rock Sliders and recovery points....My sliders were about $100 for the material and they will keep you busy and they will be well worth the money..:biggthump ...It's not cool to be stuck...:p:

...And the extra 3" totally sucks when you are driving in trees and you have to dodge all the outcroppings from cliffs that no one else has to worry about...

...Just remember, there will be plenty of time you will ask yourself," Did I really need to add that extra 3 inches???..:D

Yup, that's the plan at this point. I still need to build a rear bumper, put on some form of flares (probably Pacer flexy flares) and mudflaps. Rock rails, front bumper (not a priority...) and about a billion other things... I will try and sell the BL as soon as I can. Got a drum brake 8.8 I need to get rid of as well... I am running out of things to sell to fund this project.

A bit snippy or did I read it wrong?

...You read it wrong...:D

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against body lifts, I have one, they make working on the rig really easy but when you already have plenty of lift all you're doing is increasing your COG.

Selectable lockers are overrated BTW.

lift ??

which body lift you got, and how much to ship to P0X 1N0 ?
shipping in canada wouldn't be too bad,,

It was a little snippy... I just was annoyed 'cause I asked about a body lift and got "you need lockers". That's kinda like saying, "what time is it?" and the answer being, "You need a new shirt"... Anyway...:p:

It's a Performance Accessories 3" Body Lift for my Ex. Complete, brand new, never been installed. I sent a couple PM's to the respective peoples...

I guess this could move on to lockers now...

Why are selectables overrated? I have 1 friend with an aussie, one with a full spool, and one with a detroit... all say that they are SCARY on the highway in the winter... I'm not talking about some 25 degree weeny winter, I'm talking about -40, 3 feet of snow and ice and you have to be half nuts to go to work that day kind of winter... I don't need my already mildly unstable truck coming unglued on the road around a corner cause the back end is locked up solid...

Anyway, I welcome opinions on this matter as well...I can jack my own thread, right?

If you are driving on snow and Ice, a locker in the back is pretty scary in 2wd. But if you drive in 4wd you really don't notice it. (if the front is open)

It's not scary, it's much more predictable than an open diff, open diffs in slick conditions can never make up their mind if they want to spin one tire or both so it's hard to anticipate your next move. With a locker you always know both tires are going to spin and drive accordingly. But yeah if you have an open front diff and drive in 4x4 you wont even notice it.

Good to know. Are you willing to drive 70 MPH + in 4x4? I never have been but if it won't hurt anything then perhaps I'll pursue a locker. A lunchbox may be the only thing I can afford at this point. Hows the tire wear with a detroit or lunchbox?
