Hello all i am a new member and found your forum by a search..I went to my dealer today and was told i need 4 new tires.(this was the reason it pulls to the right)They wanted to sell me Goodyears at $380 or so..My friend told me to get allterian a little bit wider and with a bit more meat. After looking at tirerack they dont have a great selection..I don't do much off roading..What i am concerned about is rain and snow..I travel many regular roads and do the highway as well..I do hit a few dirt roads here and there..Can anyone point me to info on a good tire for my truck? I understand that this is for Explores, However i have the Mountaineer which i was told is the same thing..Any help would be apprediated..

I would stay with an OE size tire. Almost any Michelin Tire is excellent for road travel and light offroading.

I was reading reviews at that tire site and a couple people said michelin lt x m/s wern't good in snow or rain.I am looking for traction in snow in rain mainly along with dry pavement..The toyo M410 look good so far..

i am a tire guy so..... the michelins are a good all around tire..... if offroading, other than a gravel road or trail, isnt in your future, the michelins should be good.....

Went to sears and got the michilen atp(p235/75/15) for $132.99 each and found out i need to replace the upper ball joint..Anyone know what that would cost?

If you are going to replace the upper, you might as well replace the lower while you are at it. No sense in paying twice the labor.

As far as price, for upper and lower ball joint, new brakes, alignment, and labor, I payed about $500. The alignment alone was about $150 because of having to add two cam bushings.

I just talked to my mechanic today..He quoted me for $150 for the upper including labor.,However sears did an alignment last night and a couple things were negative and a note i need magna cam kits to fix the negative camber readings. In the past 2 months i put in all 4 new brakes and shocks.I paid $12k for this in April 2002 and had to put atleast $2300 into it..It has been a nightmare..

If you have the facilities (garage) or a friend that does you may want to start learning how to fix it on your own...

Just a year ago I didn't know crap about my truck but after having friends from the board here help me with it I've learned quite a bit...

Jimabena74 is NOT a tire guy. He wants to be though! Huh, what?
