I have replaced the valve body and gaskets in my explorer about a year ago, still had a few issues but it worked ok to get around here and there. Pulled out of the driveway the other day and all of the sudden it acted like it couldnt/wouldnt stay in drive, not kicking or anything just seemed to have no power in gear. Stopped and it would not do anything no drive or reverse. It was also making a hissing noise from the tranny, i had heard something like it before after doing a drain like it was low on fluid. It is not now.

So...any ideas of where to start or what it might be?

Did you replace the trans filter while you were doing all that? Do you have a trans cooler leakage problem. Did you pull up any codes?

Yes, replaced the filter, actually twice during that entire process. The new one does not have even 5k miles on it if I was guessing.

I know of no external leaks, so unless you mean something different I do not think so.

Did not pull codes, but even back when it was acting up the codes I received were pretty much worthless. I may hook the ole laptop up and give it a go anyway. It is not indicating an error by flashing OD during this by the way, which I found kind of odd.

What were the codes that were pulled from the computer? This could be a transfer case thing also.
