Solved: Need help diagnosing cruise control buttons

Hello all,
I am having intermittent problems with my cruise control not working. About 6 months ago I had the issue with the dash light turning on and then immediately off after putting the cruise on and replacing the master cylinder cutoff switch resolved that. Currently I get no dash light after pushing the on button and then the set button. I tried doing the static cruise diagnostic test but holding the off button while putting the ignition in the run position didn't work. I am leaning towards the buttons on the steering wheel and am wondering if there is a way to test prior to replacing. Thanks all.

My issue was that the gold plated contacts were wore out. Common issue for this type of switch. I just used some never seize (a silver paste of conductive metals) on the conatcs and it is working fine.

Except recently, 1 out of 8 times when I hit Coast, it accelerates... Not cool!

Problem solved

Decided to recheck the cruise control cutoff switch on the master cylinder and low and behold after only 6 months the new one failed as it checked open with the brake not applied. I jumpered the switch and the cruise now works. On the bright side this is one of the easier fixes but frustrating that it is a repeat issue. Last switch was a Standard Products and I am going to try a Motorcraft this time.
