The PCV will be attached to a valve cover, usually the drivers side on Ford. If you look at the top of the motor, there should be a tube going from the intake tube into the passenger side valve cover. This is the inlet to the PCV. On the other side, there should be a tube going from the valve cover into the intake manifold. This is the outlet of the PCV and actually holds the little PCV valve. It should be inserted into the valve cover with the tube attached to it. Here is a pic from my Mustang:
Obviously your X is a little different, but you can see exactly what I described in this pic. Look for the oil fill cap on the right side of the pic. Now a little above that is the drivers side set of plug wires. You can see a little black wire loom right before they enter the valve covers. If you keep looking along the valve covers towards the firewall, you see two bolts (the wires pass between them) and then in the place where you might expect a third bolt, theres a little tube with a 90 degree bend going into the intake. That's the PCV on my Stang. It will look similar on your X.
As best as I was able to decipher (they don't make it easy to find) from my 97 Ford Service Manual, the PCV valve is at the rear of the LH (drivers side) valve cover for the 5.0L engine. There should be a rubber tube which goes from the PCV valve to the throttle body. The PCV valve is on the end of the tube away from the throttle body.
