My son is stuck in a small town and the shift switch is not allowing car to start. Hit and miss on starting. Autozone has a remote starter $15 can someone tell where to connect the cables to cause the car start? Picture is worth 1000 words. 1996 explorer.

I think all he needs to so is jumper the two copper colored connectors on the starter? I assume they go to the relay, not the starter else he will melt the autozone cables. I just googled pic of 96 starter for the info.

Hook up one lead to the lead large lead from the battery, hook up the other to the red wire. This way it will activate the solenoind like you are turning the key. Make sure the trans is in Neutral if manual or park if auto, that way you do not get run over.
